Metal braces are a great option for kids and teenagers undergoing orthodontic treatment. At KW Orthodontics, metal braces are our most popular option among teenagers. Metal braces can be used for cases that require extractions as well as those that don’t. Our brackets are some of the smallest on the market! They are also specialized as the wire is held in with a clip rather than a coloured elastic. This means your brackets and wires are constantly working between your appointments. However, we do use coloured elastic chains to close gaps between your teeth. We may also ask you to wear special rubber band elastics to correct your bite to make sure you get the best possible outcome from your treatment with us.
On average, our cases take about 18 months to complete. Some more complex cases will take 24 months. We will provide you with an estimated treatment duration at your initial consultation visit, however it’s up to you to take care of your appliances! Broken appliances are the most common cause of extended treatment times.
